When I decided to start training at 14 years of age, I did not know what to do. I had heard rumors and read a few magazine articles that the pros at the time were running, so I started there. Due to the lack of information available, I spent most of my career experimenting with different training methods trying to find something that could give me an advantage. Through trial and error, I eventually found what worked best for me. When I managed the Geico Honda team, I witnessed factory riders constantly switching trainers searching for the secret program that would take their results to the next level. I was able to observe multiple types of programs, what worked, and what did not. My experience racing professionally for 19 years and managing a team for 7 years gives me a unique perspective on what is important in a training program.
Looking back to my amateur racing days, there are so many things that I would have loved to ask a factory rider or team manager. After a conversation with a young racer's father, I discovered that others felt the same way. I realized that access to such a resource would be very expensive and unattainable for most, so I created FIVE to make that kind of information available and affordable to motocross racers from around the world. I have teamed up with Ross Muinzer, MS, CSCS to incorporate his knowledge of strength and conditioning and to explain the science behind our training philosophy. We want FIVE to serve as your online resource, allowing you to develop all the aspects necessary to excel in the sport of motocross.
